Terms of Service

Secondary is a service operated by Vincent Seguin. These terms are between you and Vincent Seguin, operating Secondary. By creating an account or using the app, you agree to them. If you do not agree, please do not use Secondary.

What Secondary is

Secondary is a small nudge out of your routine. It suggests small, low-pressure things you might try in real life, lets you save a moment if you want to, and offers a light Community view of shared weekly nudges.

Secondary is not a productivity service, a habit tracker, a mental-health service, professional medical advice, or safety advice.

Beta

Secondary is in beta. Features can change, pause, or disappear. Things may break. Feedback is welcome, and the service should be treated as an early version.

Your account

You need an account to use the app. Keep your sign-in details to yourself, and use information that is yours to use. You can change your display name in the app. You are responsible for activity that happens through your account.

Acceptable use

Use Secondary in a way that is lawful and considerate. Do not try to break, overload, probe, or misuse the service, other people’s accounts, or the data that makes the app work.

Community

Community lets you join shared weekly nudges and leave a reaction. Those reactions are shown to others only as anonymous totals. Community is not a place for public posts, comments, or messages between people.

Do not misuse Community, or try to abuse, disrupt, manipulate, or interfere with other people or the service.

Reflections

A reflection is optional and private to your account. Do not put someone else’s private information in a reflection if you do not have a good reason to keep it there.

Real life

Nudges are invitations, not instructions. You decide whether to try one. Use your own judgment. Do not follow a nudge where doing so would be unsafe, unlawful, or inappropriate for you, for other people, or for the place you are in.

A nudge will not suit every person or every situation. Secondary does not promise that it will.

Intellectual property

The Secondary name, wordmark, app, nudge writing, and site belong to Vincent Seguin, operating Secondary, or its licensors. You receive a personal, non-exclusive right to use the app while these terms apply. Reflections you write stay yours. You allow Secondary to store and show them back to you so the app can work.

Ending or deleting an account

You can permanently delete your account in the app: Journal → Account → Delete account. That removes the account and the application data tied to it, as described in the Privacy Policy.

Secondary may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms, or that puts other people or the service at risk. Where it is reasonable to do so, we will tell you.

Changes to the service

Secondary can add, change, or remove parts of the beta, including nudges and Community periods. These terms can also change. The “Last updated” date will change when they do. If you keep using Secondary after an update, the updated terms apply.

Availability

We try to keep Secondary available, but we do not promise that it will always be up, fast, or free of mistakes. Maintenance, outages, and beta experiments can interrupt it.

Disclaimers

Secondary is provided as a light, experimental beta. Apart from rights that the law does not let us set aside, the app and nudges are offered without a promise that they are fit for a particular purpose or that trying them will lead to a particular result.

Liability

To the extent the law allows, Secondary is not liable for indirect or consequential loss, or for what happens because you chose to try a nudge in real life. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot legally be limited, including liability for fraud or for harm the law does not allow a service to exclude.

Mandatory consumer rights remain unaffected. If you are a consumer, you keep the rights your local law gives you, including rights that cannot be waived by a contract.
